Do you like to drive? Do you have your own car and some free time, and would you like to help us? For many elderly people or people who are recovering from a serious illness or accident, traveling to the doctor is difficult. This is where the Red Cross Zug transport service can help.

Red Cross volunteers use their own car to take passengers from their home to a doctor's, hospital or therapy appointment and back home again.

Duration:

  • As a rule, the trips take place during office hours from Monday to Friday.
  • Ideally you will be able to spare 3 to 4 hours a week to make at least one trip.
  • You are free to decide on a case-by-case basis whether you want to make a trip or not.
  • For at least 6 months.

Location:

Zug canton and the surrounding area

How it will work:

  • After you have accepted a trip, you pick the passenger up from their home with your private car.
  • You take them to their destination, whether it is a doctor's, hospital or therapy appointment.
  • Finally, you take them back home again.

Support:

While on assignments you will be supported by the operational management who have all the key information you need to carry out your task.

Tasks:

As a Red Cross volunteer driver you will mainly accompany older people and those with limited mobility to doctor's, hospital or therapy appointments and back home again. You will thereby enable these people to continue living independently in their own home for longer, or help out in a temporary emergency.

What you'll need:

If you have some spare time, enjoy meeting people and have a sympathetic ear, then talk to us (with no obligation) about helping out with our transport service. You will use your own vehicle for the assignments. Expenses will be reimbursed and you will be insured for the duration of the assignments (comprehensive coverage, cost of loss of bonus in the event of a liability insurance claim). You will contribute your time free of charge

Note:

You have a valid driving license and a private car. The maximum age for volunteer drivers is 80 years. All volunteer drivers must regularly undergo the legally-required health checks.
