The “Cycling Without Age” initiative was founded in 2012 in Denmark to combat loneliness and increase mobility for the elderly (www.cyclingwithoutage.org).

Volunteer 'trishaw' pilots take residents from retirement and care homes, and those who can no longer ride a bike themselves on a free trishaw trip, based on the principle “everyone has a right to feel the wind in their hair.”

Duration:

  • To set up a local chapter, you decide the commitment yourself.
  • On average: 1 hour per week of your time and stamina until the goal is achieved.

How it will work:

  • Introductory discussion with the president of Cycling Without Age in order to answer questions and define the first steps.
  • Taking a trishaw ride at one of the existing locations.
  • Holding initial discussions with retirement homes, local authorities, etc., initiating cooperation with authorities and institutions.
  • Mobilizing volunteer trishaw pilots.
  • The goal is to offer free trishaw rides to pensioners and people with limited mobility at an additional location.

Introduction:

Chapter founders will receive comprehensive preparation and the necessary documentation.

Support:

Chapter founders will receive comprehensive support, and ongoing exchange will ensure their success.

Tasks:

  • Make contact with retirement homes, local authorities, Spitex, neighborhood assistance, etc.
  • Mobilize future volunteer trishaw pilots.
