UBS Helpetica has been supporting projects from Tischlein deck dich for several years, where food is saved from going to waste and distributed to people affected by poverty.
Fresh produce such as fruit and vegetables are carefully checked, sorted and packed for distribution throughout Switzerland at the premises of Tischlein deck dich in Winterthur and Staufen. It is important to note that the food should still have sufficient shelf life to reach the recipients in edible condition. A guide value is a minimum of 24 hours.
Volunteers from the event in October 2023 report: “It is always great to be able to do something for the common good. We will repeat the event soon and are already looking forward to it.”

In Switzerland, 2.8 million tonnes of perfectly good food are destroyed every year. At the same time, according to the Federal Statistical Office (FSO), around 722,000 people live here at or below the poverty line.
Tischlein deck dich saves food from destruction and distributes it to people affected by poverty throughout Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein. Every week, we reach over 21,000 people in need at our 150 distribution points. Tischlein deck dich thus makes a socially meaningful and ecologically sustainable contribution to a respectful approach to food.
