Would you like to join our project as a mentor for young people? We are currently in need of support and so would be very grateful to have you on board.
MUNTERwegs is a mentoring project that assigns volunteers to young people from migrant and non-migrant backgrounds. The program thus contributes to cultural integration, promotes equal opportunities and enables participants to actively participate in social life. The project is mainly geared towards young people aged between 13 and 16 from migrant backgrounds and vulnerable Swiss families from the canton of Zug.
As part of the MUNTERwegs program for young people, mentors help their mentees to choose a career. Volunteers receive support in regular group events and coaching sessions.
Duration:
- The assignment begins in September following summer vacation
- 2–3 hours every two weeks or twice monthly
- You will meet with your mentee regularly for at least eight months
Location:
Canton of Zug (Baar, Cham, Rotkreuz)
How it will work:
- After an initial interview with MUNTERwegs, you will receive an invitation to our information evening
- The project team looks for a suitable young person for you
- You will receive an invitation to an icebreaker evening and then to a meet-and-greet with your mentee and their family
- Following an individual discussion with your mentee, you will meet during your free time
- There will be frequent communication with the MUNTERwegs project team
You will be reimbursed for expenses
Introduction:
MUNTERwegs provides various means of support, such as:
- Icebreaker evenings for new volunteers
- Meet-and-greet sessions
- Workshops for young people
- Opportunities to interact with other mentors in the group / coaching sessions
Support:
- The project team at MUNTERwegs is on hand to provide support throughout the assignment
Tasks:
- As a personal mentor, you will support a young person aged between 13 and 16.
- Helping them to learn German
- Supporting their integration
- Promoting cultural integration and equal opportunities
- As a mentor you will help your mentee to choose a career.
What you'll need:
- You enjoy working with young people
- You are very empathetic
- You are patient
- You are tolerant of other cultures and moral values
- You have a good knowledge of German
