PICTOMED’s key project is a web-based, non-verbal, visual communication tool to overcome language barriers in doctor-patient-communication.
We enable healthcare providers and patients who do not share a common language to communicate with ease, simply by pointing to pictures. We provide over 300 illustrations of medical symptoms.
The website app should be interactive, quick and easy to use to guarantee user-friendliness.
Our communication tool offers a wide range of application through independence of language and alphabet.
Duration:
- Flexible, but volunteering for a period of at least 6 months is preferable.
- Time commitment: average of 3-5 hours per week.
Location:
Flexibel in Swiss cities or/and virtually by video conference.
How it will work:
- Redesign and new layout of the existing website app with an aim to give more room and emphasize to the illustrations
- Continue coding the Website app in survey style, replace specific illustrations, add new functions and new illustration series for taking a medical history.
- Management of user accounts (e.g. password reset) with link to payrexx subcription
- Coding of search catalogue
- Customer/user database
Introduction:
Individually depending on know-how, cooperation with our former web master Warren to pick up from where he left.
Support:
- Ideally, Warren introduces to the coding process on the current website app. Once you understand it, you need to be able to do the coding by yourself. However, the layout and content is team work, mainly with me as director and Sara as head illustrator and graphic designer.
- As the current coding programs don’t fully allow us to realise our picture-based project, we are also looking for a coder with experience, problem-solving approach and creativity.
Tasks:
- Redesign and new layout of the existing website app with an aim to give more room and emphasize to the illustrations
- Continue coding the Website app in survey style, replace specific illustrations, add new functions and new illustration series for taking a medical history.
- Management of user accounts (e.g. password reset) with link to payrexx subcription
- Coding of search catalogue.
- Build and manage a customer/user database.
- Develop a new website app for diagnostics and for therapy from scratch.
What you'll need:
- Experience in app development and coding
- Problem-solving approach
- Creativity
- Technical: vueJS, survey-vue, laravel, php
- Optional add on: Statamic as CMS
- Interactive Single Page Application (SPA), best possible user experience
Note:
- English, additional language skills are welcome.
- Residency in Switzerland, but nationality may be any.

PICTOMED is a humanitarian association that equips healthcare personnel with a large number of images illustrating symptoms, which can be queried in a user-friendly, language-independent and interactive way via a website app. We’re also engaged in public relations, educational and research work in the field of intercultural interpreting in the healthcare sector.
