Education

Inspire the youth with the Money Management module of the Young Enterprise Switzerland (YES) Personal Economics programme. First, we offer you a short training course to become a YES volunteer. You can then work together with young people, right in their classroom! Budgeting, savings, insurance, payslips, tax returns or even telephone subscriptions and leasing: you coach the students (14-16 years old) in one or more of these topics according to the needs of the class with the aim of enabling them to face the future calmly and avoid excessive indebtedness. You are free to use our teaching materials, to draw inspiration from our other volunteers or to share your knowledge in your own way. We need your professional experience to prepare young people for life and to give them inspiration and confidence!

Volunteering with YES allows you to support youth and have a real positive impact. Furthermore, it's also an opportunity to develop new professional skills and access our network of partners and volunteers.

Duration:

  • 2 to 3 half-days, including 2 hours of training

Location:

  • In schools located in a perimeter defined by the volunteers (also possible to intervene online)
  • Training course in our offices in Zurich or Fribourg or at your place of work

How it will work:

  • 2 hours of training course
  • Planning of the assignment with the teacher (by phone, email, videoconference or during a preliminary visit to the classroom)
  • Assignment in class on 1 or 2 different dates (e.g. 1 day, 1 half-day, 2 half-days or 2x 2h)

Introduction:

  • YES accompanies you and prepares you for all stages of your volunteer assignment.

Support:

  • YES provides all the necessary teaching materials as well as materials used by other experienced volunteers (optional use).
  • The teacher helps you plan the assignment, is always present in the classroom, and is available for any advice or assistance

Tasks:

  • Provide interactive, practice-oriented lessons to prepare students for managing their money
  • Prepare lessons in advance in consultation with the teacher in order to deliver them in a serious, self-directed manner that is as close as possible to the students' needs

What you'll need:

  • Enjoy contact with children
  • Enjoy sharing your knowledge and experience
  • Basic management skills and a good knowledge of the world of work and finance

Note:

  • The assignment is done in a private setting and on a voluntary basis: the volunteers represent YES and not their employer.

This educational project is funded by a foundation.

YES is an independent non-profit organisation and the leading provider of practice-oriented business and opinion education in Switzerland. Students engage with the interplay between business, society and environment. The goal is clear: the next generation should think and act entrepreneurially, engage in dialog, form well-founded opinions and take on responsibility. This is why volunteers from partner companies are involved with YES.
