The mission of the Repair Café Canton Zug is to avoid waste and conserve resources by restoring everyday objects that would otherwise be discarded before their time, though they could still be repaired. In this way, the association is contributing to preserving the environment and resources.
“At the same time, our activities help people help themselves. Visitors bring us an item that needs fixing, and we repair it together with them,” Raimondo Coloru explains.
The record of repairs shows that 70% of items were repaired successfully in 2022. Over 1,000 items were accepted for repair last year. About 5% of repairs were actually completed by visitors at home after the events, either because the work couldn’t be finished during the events or spare parts still had to be ordered. This is a very encouraging development with an upward trend. We’re still looking for many more volunteers who are talented working with their hands or willing to help with social activities such as making coffee, keeping the premises clean or simply promoting the gathering.
Impressions
Der Zweck des Vereins ist die Organisation und Durchführung von Repair Cafés. Ein Repair Café ist eine öffentliche Reparaturdienst-Veranstaltung. Der Verein bezweckt mit seiner Tätigkeit die Vermei-dung von Abfall jeder Art und damit einhergehend von Ressourcenverschwendung.
Der Verein trägt damit zu einem nachhaltigen Umgang mit der Umwelt bei und fördert die Reparatur-kultur in der Schweiz. Die Reparaturen sind für die Besuchenden bis auf den Erwerb allfälliger Ersatz-teile kostenlos. Damit unterstützt der Verein direkt auch Bevölkerungskreise, welche finanzielle Einschränkungen zu tragen haben. Gleichzeitig sieht der Verein die Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe als zentrale Aufgabe.
