PICTOMED’s key project is a web-based, non-verbal, visual communication tool to overcome language barriers in doctor-patient-communication.

We enable healthcare providers and patients who do not share a common language to communicate with ease, simply by pointing to pictures. We provide over 300 illustrations of medical symptoms. The website app should be interactive, quick and easy to use to guarantee user-friendliness. Our communication tool offers a wide range of application through independence of language and alphabet.

Duration:

  •
  • Flexible, but volunteering for a period of at least 1 year is preferable.
  • Time commitment: flexible, depends on number of volunteers, average of 3 hours per week

Location:

Flexibel in Swiss cities or/and virtually by video conference.

How it will work:

The main aim is to launch the website app within a year:

  • Code the body maps (image): add buttons for chief complaint
  • Continue coding the Website app in survey style (using surveyJavaScript on github.com), all algorithms have been developed and are available including illustrations (accessible over cloudflare) and filters. You may need to replace specific illustrations, correct algorithms, add new functions and new illustration series for taking a medical history (using JSON editor).
  • Finish coding of search catalogue
  • Management of user accounts (e.g. password reset) with link to payrexx subcription
  • Build and manage customer/user database

Introduction:

Individually depending on know-how, cooperation with our former web master Umberto to pick up from where he left.

Support:

  • Ideally, Umberto introduces you to the coding process on the current template (Next.js).
  • Once you understand it, you need to be able to do the coding by yourself. However, the layout and content is team work, mainly with me as director and Sara as head illustrator and graphic designer.
  • We are looking for a coder with experience, problem-solving approach and creativity. No formal IT qualification is necessary, we are happy with a passionate “hobby” coder.
