Urgently needed: volunteers for the largest Foodsave project in Switzerland! At the Tischlein deck dich logistics warehouse in Winterthur, around 10 tons of fruits and vegetables are sorted daily. These food items are distributed to people in need. The organization cannot manage these quantities alone – Tischlein deck dich needs your support!
By participating with your team, you actively help save food from being wasted and distribute it to people in need. At the same time, you make a valuable contribution to sustainability and the respectful handling of food.
Duration:
Possible deployment from Monday to Friday, by individual arrangement and availability.
Location:
- Logistics warehouse in 8404 Winterthur Grüze.
- We recommend traveling by public transport, from the Winterthur train station with:
– Bus 7 direction Elsau Melcher to station Winterthur, Grüze-Märkte
- No Visitor parking available. However, it is possible to park in the customer parking spaces of the Coop supermarket Winterthur Grüzemarkt.
How it will work:
- Arrival at the logistics warehouse, Rudolf - Diesel - Strasse 25, 8404 Winterthur Grüze.
- Welcome and introduction by the logistics manager.
- Triage of foodstuffs.
- End of assignment and farewell by the logistics manager.
Introduction:
The introduction will take place on site.
Support:
A team leader will coordinate everything on site and is always available to answer questions.
Tasks:
- The fruit and vegetables are delivered by conveyor and placed in the repacking area.
- You look to see which food is still edible and which needs to be discarded.
- This involves removing the outer leaves from lettuce, trimming leeks, cutting carrots, etc. You will rely on your own senses to decide whether the items still need to be given away or discarded.
What you’ll need:
- Physically able to stand.
Note:
- Wear sturdy, comfortable shoes.
- Bring a jacket to throw on.
- Participants are responsible for their own drink and meals.
- For the team, deployment is possible in the morning or afternoon; a full day's deployment is too exhausting.
- Additionally, order picking occasionally requires lifting weights (approximately 3-10 kg), which a healthy adult can easily manage.
- With a deployment in the morning or afternoon, you can organize a joint lunch with your team either before or after your deployment.

Every week, we reach over 21,000 people in need at our 150 distribution points.
