In a time when corporate social responsibility is becoming increasingly important, charitable activities such as Social Responsibility Days are gaining significance. On a Social Responsibility Day, a company and its employees dedicate a day to a good cause. Your team deployment can make a significant contribution to protecting our habitat and the environment in Switzerland.
The Swiss Competence Center against Littering IGSU also organizes Social Responsibility Days for companies. Especially in the area of littering, companies and their employees have the opportunity to make a visible difference in one day – for environmental protection and a litter-free nature.
Duration:
- Freely selectable between April and October 2025
- The company can determine the duration, start, and end time
- Minimum deployment time: 4 hours
Location:
Possible locations are determined by the company's location and the choice of a site visit.
How it will work:
The IGSU Social Responsibility Day can be assembled modularly:
- Typically, the day begins with a professional input lecture on the topic of recycling and littering, providing background information, costs, causes, and consequences of littering.
- This can be followed by a tour of a recycling plant or a waste incineration plant to show how waste and circular economy work in Switzerland.
- In the practical module, employees will conduct a "clean-up action" in public spaces with the IGSU ambassador teams. Employees will experience firsthand what is littered and can apply their new knowledge on littering and recycling.
Introduction:
The introduction is carried out on-site by the IGSU ambassador team and is based on the day's program.
Support:
Company employees are accompanied and supervised by the IGSU ambassador teams on the Social Responsibility Day.
Tasks:
- Collecting waste and recyclables in public spaces (banks, streets, forest areas)
- Sorting the collected items and then disposing of or recycling them.
Requirements:
No specific requirements
Note:
IGSU provides protective materials for participants (safety vests, gloves, garbage bags, and litter pickers).

As the Swiss center for excellence for issues pertaining to litter, the Interest Group for a Clean Environment (IGSU) is dedicated to making the country cleaner. The IGSU proactively implements several different measures throughout Switzerland to prevent and raise awareness of littering. The group's chief aim is to prevent littering in the long term by encouraging people to change their attitudes and behavior.
