  The Weerd-Fischergrien is a floodplain of national importance characterized by open areas with ponds that benefit rare species such as the yellow-bellied toad. For the ponds to remain attractive to these species, they must receive plenty of sunlight, for which reason shrub growth must be prevented. To control these saplings (willows and poplars) effectively, they must be fully uprooted and removed. Thank you in advance for your support! Volunteers will be rewarded with a snack and a 30-minute guided tour of the BirdLife nature center at the Klingnauer reservoir.

  Mission on Alp Nursera for Moor and Goat! The two-day mission takes place in the Göriwald-Andeer special forest reserve. Due to a bog restoration, some alpine pastures have become waterlogged and are no longer usable for agriculture. Therefore, volunteers are clearing other areas to create replacement grazing land for the goats. Additionally, the mission takes place in the Andeer-Göriwald special forest reserve, which has been designated for grouse. Thus, the volunteers are not only helping with the revitalization of a high moor and supporting mountain agriculture, but they are also creating clearings and promoting the habitat of capercaillie and black grouse. The work is carried out in a beautiful mountain landscape with a high moor of national importance, plenty of fresh air, and hopefully lots of sunshine.

  save food - do good - cook togheter The Foodsave Meeting is a meeting point by SocialCuisine that utilizes surplus food from the foodsavemarket. At the market, fruits and vegetables that would otherwise be discarded by wholesalers are offered. The goal is to minimize food waste while simultaneously supporting socially disadvantaged people. In a half-day team effort, we prepare at least 100 meals from surplus vegetables and fruits for people on the street. The meals are distributed by the Incontro association's food distribution service.

  Urgently needed: volunteers for the largest Foodsave project in Switzerland! At the Tischlein deck dich logistics warehouse in Winterthur, around 10 tons of fruits and vegetables are sorted daily. These food items are distributed to people in need. The organization cannot manage these quantities alone – Tischlein deck dich needs your support! By participating with your team, you actively help save food from being wasted and distribute it to people in need. At the same time, you make a valuable contribution to sustainability and the respectful handling of food.

  In the Zurich area, Andreas Benz from Fahr-Erlebnis is working on converting his apple orchard from conventional to organic farming. Here we are implementing targeted measures to strengthen both the flora and fauna of the orchard and increase biodiversity. An exciting and complex project! A wild hedge is being planted on the northern edge of the plantation, which provides food for pollinators such as wild bees as well as promoting habitat connectivity for small mammals such as weasels. We are also building two weasel castles made of stone and wood, which provide valuable habitats for these small predators. A natural fence planted with hops and ivy, as well as piles of branches and stones, create further habitats and promote connectivity for small mammals.

• Enhancement of the Chestnut Grove of Santa Petronilla

  Above Biasca lies the chestnut grove of Santa Petronilla, a historically and ecologically valuable habitat where people have cultivated sweet chestnuts (castanea sativa) for centuries. The open, light-flooded forest structures of these groves were created through regular cultivation and were once central supply areas for humans and animals. Today, this unique cultural landscape is at risk of disappearing: Without maintenance, brambles, bracken and other highly competitive shrubs grow back, thickening the undergrowth and preventing the regeneration of the chestnut trees. This destroys valuable habitats for heat-loving species such as lizards, wild bees, bats and various types of fungi. The work includes cutting back undergrowth, removing invasive species, clearing old chestnut trees and clearing branches. The work will help restore the sparse forest structure typical for chestnuts – and with it a piece of living Ticino history.

  The area lies on Mont Racine in the Jura mountain range. It is a popular hiking area along the Jura Crest Trail and offers impressive high pastures with distinctive spruces and steep forested slopes. The Swiss Army owns the property and operates a shooting range there. The site contains several kilometers of former dry stone walls, some of which have crumbled. The primary goal of this project is to restore the historic dry stone walls in Les Pradières. These walls represent important elements of our cultural landscape and play a crucial role in preserving biodiversity. They provide habitat for numerous species, including amphibians and reptiles, and contribute to the ecological stability of the region. The highest priority is given to walls that are not in the immediate vicinity of the shooting ranges and whose conservation has the greatest impact on biodiversity, species diversity and the traditional landscape.

  Welcome to an unforgettable day in the beautiful Schelten Pass Mountains in the Bernese Jura! But you are not just here to admire the beauty of this area. You are here to actively contribute to preserving biodiversity. With combined forces and many helping hands, we will work to clear certain areas of bracken by hand. In doing so, we are both protecting rare species as well as preserving the unique landscape of the Bernese Jura for future generations. The bracken (pteridium aquilinum) in the Jura grows mainly outside the forest. This is also true of the dry grasslands and pastures of national importance in Schelten (BE). The bracken can spread on nutrient poor grassland and gradually take over large areas. The dense growth prevents other species from establishing themselves. Under optimal growing conditions, the bracken can grow up to three meters tall! Due to its toxicity, grazing animals do not eat it, which further promotes its spread. Together, we can curb the growth of bracken and have a positive impact on this special area!

  Welcome to the heart of the largest floodplain landscape in Central Switzerland. Experience a day full of nature and practical conservation work in the forest district of Flaach. Accompanied by birdsong and the scents of the forest, we will work together to protect the diversity of this unique habitat. The work varies depending on the season: In spring and summer, we remove brambles and invasive plants; in fall, we clear storm wood or cut back bushes. Collecting litter can also be part of the job. Whether it is sawing, raking or tackling the undergrowth, every activity strengthens the forest habitat, promotes team spirit and makes a visible contribution to nature conservation in north-eastern Switzerland.

  The rare Black Hairstreak and the Lesser Purple Emperor butterflies can be found near Zurich Airport. During this assignment, you will work in a newly reforested area, where measures have already been implemented to promote the two butterflies. The females of these butterflies lay their eggs individually on Prunus and Populus species. These plants were replanted last spring, but as part of this operation they must be freed from overgrown plants such as blackberries. Under the guidance of our experienced guides, you will carry out this meaningful and satisfying activity. The maintenance and improvement of habitats often requires labor-intensive measures that would not be manageable without the helping hands of volunteers. Help create invaluable added value for biodiversity and habitat conservation.
