Hack4SocialGood (H4SG) is a two-day hackathon that bridges the gap between the social sector and the world of technology. Participants from social work, IT, academia, and civil society come together to co-develop digital solutions for real-world challenges in social services.
Duration:
- Two days
- Friday, March 27, 9:45 a.m. – open end
- Saturday, March 28, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m
Location:
HEG - Haute école de gestion Arc, Espace de l'Europe 21, CH-2000 Neuchâtel
How it will work:
- Interested individuals gather at the starting time.
- After a welcome and two thematic inputs, participants voluntarily assign themselves to the challenges to be worked on.
- In these teams, solution drafts are then conceived and developed, which are presented in a short presentation at the end. A jury and an audience prize will be awarded.
- Throughout Hack4SocialGood, catering, social breaks, and fun are provided.

The introduction takes place at the event itself.
Support:
Participants will find all necessary information at the event. Catering and a small supporting program are provided.
Tasks:
Collaboration in interdisciplinary teams on a challenge from a social organization in the field of digitalization.
What you'll need:
All individuals with experience in the social sector (non-profit organizations) and/or IT are welcome.
Note:
The event will be held in English, but most documentation will be available in English, French, and German. Teams can work together in the language of their choice.

HEG Arc (Haute École de Gestion Arc) is one of the schools of the HES-SO (University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Western Switzerland) and a member of swissuniversities. In addition to its tertiary education activities (Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes as well as continuing education), HEG Arc is actively involved in applied research and service provision through its Institute for the Digitalisation of Organisations (IDO). The IDO conducts applied research in the field of information systems, with a particular focus on the use of new technologies to support the digital transition of organizations. Its activities specifically address the adoption of advanced data analysis and data processing technologies to enhance decision-making, optimize business processes, and ensure the long-term sustainability of organizations’ information systems. IDO researchers rely emphasises on market-recognised tools and methodologies while leveraging the latest information and communication technologies (ICT), thereby playing an active role in technology transfer to the economic sector. A key characteristic and strategic ambition of the IDO is to maintain full independence from any specific product or software vendor.
