  The Wald & Klima Association is committed to reforestation and the long-term preservation of protective forests in the Ursern Valley (canton of Uri). By planting trees suited to the local environment, the association helps protect against natural hazards and supports a mountain forest that can withstand future climate conditions. To help young trees take root and thrive, they need regular care during their first few years. And this is where you come in. During the volunteering assignment, you’ll help tend to areas that have already been planted. You’ll cut back grass, ferns and other vegetation around the young trees to ensure they have enough light and space to grow. No prior experience is needed. After a brief introduction, you can start helping right away. Every assignment helps small saplings grow into a healthy forest that protects future generations. Look forward to an active half day in nature, fascinating insights into forest care and conservation, and the chance to meet interesting people. Alongside the hands-on work, you’ll also enjoy fresh air, exercise and a shared experience outdoors.

During this rewarding one-day conservation project in Parc Ela, you will make a visible and lasting contribution to the environment. On this planting day in Mon, Parc Ela, you will work alongside other volunteers to plant locally adapted fruit trees and create a species-rich native hedgerow. Your efforts will help establish valuable habitats and food sources for a wide range of wildlife, while strengthening biodiversity and enhancing the ecological quality of the landscape for the long term. The activities include preparing the soil, digging planting holes, and professionally planting the trees and shrubs. • Nature conservation in Neeracherried

  With its 105 hectares, the Neeracherried is one of the last large lowland moors in Switzerland and is a nationally significant protected area. It provides valuable habitat for countless birds, plants, amphibians, reptiles, and small animals—and also serves as a resting place for migratory birds, a winter refuge, and a breeding ground for rare species. More than 450 plant species have been recorded here. However, these populations are threatened by problematic and invasive non-native plants. Without protective measures, these so-called neophytes, such as goldenrod, can completely wipe out less competitive species (e.g., orchids). Regular mowing of the meadows is not enough. Only pulling out these plants along with their roots is effective enough and makes a valuable contribution to preserving biodiversity. For this, we rely on active support.

  SINGA is dedicated to providing people with refugee and migrant backgrounds with access to knowledge and entrepreneurial opportunities. We guide people every step of the way on the path to independence with programs tailored to each phase of building a business – from coming up with ideas to starting and growing a business. Most participants in our programs are highly qualified holders of F, S and B permits. About 60% are women and 80% are parents who face major barriers to finding work in the Swiss labor market. Many have already spent years looking for the right job without success, or they’re stuck in roles that don’t match their skills – even though they were experienced professionals or business owners back home. As a volunteer at SINGA, you’ll have the opportunity to assist these dedicated individuals on their journey – by mentoring them, connecting them with professionals or offering practical help with daily life. You’ll be helping talented individuals unlock their skills and open up new opportunities for them.
