At Histoire sans chute (HSC), we believe that every material has infinite reuse potential, including textiles. Our team shares this vision by creating local systems for collecting, sorting, and reusing this valuable resource, as well as organizing events focused on repair and raising awareness about the world of textiles. The HSC arcade is a textile resource center in the heart of Geneva (the first of its kind!), serving as a second-hand haberdashery (materials for sale), a shared space (for machines and other tools), and a hub for promoting textile repair. In short, it’s a place for both material and human exchange.

Duration:

The duration of volunteer involvement varies according to each person’s availability. HSC allows you to invest as little as one hour or up to a full day (renewable: a week, a month, etc.).

How it will work:

Various volunteer roles are available:

  • Sorting volunteer
  • Reuse volunteer
  • Repair volunteer
  • Accounting/Budget volunteer
  • Event volunteer (contact HSC for more details)

Introduction:

  • Sorting: Training will be provided to help recognize different textiles, ensuring careful separation and optimal sorting.
  • Reuse and Repair: Training will be provided on using sewing machines and other equipment.
  • Accounting: No specific training is planned, but a briefing will be given to volunteers.

Support:

Continuous and friendly support is offered by the HSC team at all times. Each volunteer will receive an introduction to the association and its activities, as well as training tailored to their chosen role upon arrival.

Tasks:

The nature of each role varies depending on the chosen activity. Tasks may involve hands-on work (sorting, reusing, and repairing textiles) or virtual support (helping with accounting).

Histoire sans chute (HSC) ist der Name eines Drittorts – einer Ressourcenschmiede für die Kunst des Textils –, in dem Pflege, Sortierung, Lagerung und Wiederverwendung aller Textilmaterialien durchgeführt werden, die nicht den Akzeptanzkriterien der grossen Textilrecyclingunternehmen der Region entsprechen, insbesondere Stoffreste. Zwischen der Förderung der Reparatur unserer Kleidung (denn um weniger wegzuwerfen, sollten wir mehr reparieren!) und der Sensibilisierung für Kreislaufwirtschaft im Bereich der Bekleidung positioniert sich HSC als ein einzigartiger Ort seiner Art in Genf.
